I remember feeling...I also want to thank you David. I remember feeling called, truely called, to go to MS to help. I had just started a new job at BofA couple months before, and I had one week of vacation that year. My kids at the time were 8, 5 and 3. I was thinking, Lord if you really want me to go, you're going to have to make it happen. My plan was to go for 3 weeks. To my surprise, my wife consented, and my employer gave me the additional 2 weeks vacation!

One of the many things that stick with me from those 3 weeks is, while not knowing what would happen day to day, I awoke each day filled with joy at knowing I would be serving in whatever way God needed, in His army, and for His children.

This feeling of joy and fulfillment is something I have never experienced in my 20+ year career in IT, nor do I anticipate I ever will.

That time at CCC, and during your church services, was such a sweet testament to the giving, caring, loving spirit God has placed in each of us. This spirit and His constant love and provision for us are too often misplaced in "normal" everyday life. But Katrina gave us this glimpse of God's "normal", served His purposes, and I too have been changed forever.Erikhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12382351825919966458noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5455471.post-82236429803570979142010-08-27T16:14:45.563-05:002010-08-27T16:14:45.563-05:00thanks David! so great to meet you earlier this we...thanks David! so great to meet you earlier this week. I remember transforming the gym to holy space every Sunday morning, sitting in the bleachers with the rest of the volunteers and thanking God for bringing us to this place. I remember transforming the new building into holy space on Sunday mornings a few years later. I remember my dismay when St. Patrick's moved out of CCC and then joy when you returned. You and your parish were my spiritual home away from home during my several relief trips and you are in my heart every Sunday here in Atascadero as we say the prayers of the people. I'll be back sometime to visit you in your new church but until then know that I am changed forever.Leann Brooksnoreply@blogger.com
